Regenerative Design Project.

The idea is to use regenerative design as a complement to the action of reducing the damage that we, companies and organizations, can cause to the environment. One action complements the other. Learn more about the initiative and how to implement this systemic vision in your projects.

The Principles of Regenerative Design

Many concepts make up the principles of regenerative design, but some of the most important are:

  • Respect natural cycles: This means understanding and learning to work harmoniously with the place where the project or organization is located, without disrupting or altering the natural cycle of the environment and integrating with existing flows.
  • Efficient use of resources: This is the conscious use of resources and materials. The application of good management to ensure that these resources are not wasted, but optimized at all stages of production.
  • Integration of ecology : In regenerative design, there is the idea that everything and everyone is largely interconnected, which means considering the interconnectedness of local ecosystems, creating good coexistence and enhancing biodiversity.
  • Community Involvement : Involvement with the local community is also very important. To this end, the organization must unite the values and needs of this community, promoting a sense of belonging and harmony with it.

Regenerative Architecture and Design

It is very important to mention that the building sector can be considered as one of the main contributors to environmental impact and climate change. That's why at Coverings ETC we believe we have a responsibility to change this reality.

One way to do this is to invest in greener buildings, in other words, to go beyond small sustainable actions. Regenerative design is about going beyond these goals and creating truly meaningful solutions for the environment, to reverse the damage done, not just minimize it.

For this reason, it is imperative that companies and organizations adopt regenerative design as a guiding principle in their projects and implement the concepts and ideals clearly and solidly internally and with their clients. Some regenerative design strategies that can be used in construction projects include:

  • Green Facade: a form of natural cladding that cleans the air and absorbs carbon emissions.
  • Rainwater harvesting: When designing buildings, consider ways to capture and reuse rainwater.
  • More efficient thermal buildings: just as Coverings invests in cladding with intelligent and innovative thermal performance, it is important to invest in buildings that are energy efficient.

Looking to the future

Thinking about a greener future, where the damage done to the environment can be reversed, is at the heart of regenerative design. To reach this level, however, many changes need to be made within companies. What is offered to the end customer and the community must reflect what is already working within the organization. The first step in this direction is to look at architecture and the building sector as a vehicle for change.

The strategies and approaches may not be so simple at first, but with the use of technology and well-structured actions, these changes can happen. It is an invitation for companies to change the very basis of their thinking, such as:

  • Improve holistic vision
  • Implementing more empathetic communication
  • Creating initiatives and processes capable of involving other people
  • Consolidating actions that are truly effective for the community
  • Transforming leadership

Regenerative design is about looking to the future, going beyond basic sustainability standards, and understanding all the benefits of being in balance with nature. It can be a long journey for companies and organizations, but regenerating means leaving the ecosystem better than we found it. Regeneration means providing an opportunity for the future.
